Nancy Lacourly

Nancy has spent much of her professional life as a university lecturer in mathematics and statistics at the University of Chile. Her doctoral research, at the Paris Universities, was in the statistical analysis of nutritional surveys and she went on to work as a statistical expert at the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).



Subsequently, she has participated in many research studies, for governmental and private clients, in the fields of education, health and other social sciences, as well as meteorology, seismology and the financial sector. These projects include impact evaluations of basic health services in Honduras and of early childhood education in Chile, and the first national-level study of early years reading skills in Angola.


Nancy has published widely on statistical theory, in English, French and Spanish. In addition to her teaching and research in Santiago, she has also taught courses in anthropometrics and survey methods for food and nutrition professionals at the Senghor University of Alexandria, in Egypt.
