Gillian Gloyer

Gillian worked full-time for Sistemas Integrales in the 1990s, when she edited its clients' magazine ARIEL-Club. Since then, she has contributed to occasional projects with the company; for example, she helped to draft a reference guide for survey managers.

While living in Santiago,

she covered Chile's transition to democracy for Scottish newspapers and magazines. Now, she mainly writes about Albania; she is the author of the Bradt guide to the country and publishes from time to time in travel magazines and on-line resources. She is also a consultant in democratisation and governance. She directed a long-term training programme with political parties in Albania; ran a voter education programme in Georgia; trained domestic observers in Liberia; and advised the Somaliland National Election Commission on its staff training. She has participated in international election observation missions in Latin America and the Caribbean, the former Soviet Union, the Balkans and the Middle East.

Gillian is professionally fluent in English, French, Spanish and Albanian. She is based in Edinburgh.
