Alejandro Sabag
Alejandro has over thirty years' experience in surveys and, especially, censuses. He worked for many years in the National Statistical Institute of Chile (INE), ultimately as head of the IT department, where he was responsible for the technical and methodological aspects of three population and housing censuses and numerous census-related activities.
He was a member of INE's Board of Directors for nearly a decade.
He has advised on the preparation of censuses in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, and has participated in education-related projects and other types of survey in Central and South America. These consultancy roles have included designing and delivering training; developing Terms of Reference and Technical Specifications for census-related tenders; data definition, design and validation; and the design and generation of census databases.
Alejandro holds degrees in programming and in engineering from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. He lives in Santiago and speaks Spanish and English.
